Summer 2009 Journal
9/16/09 Went to the casino for our $1.99 breakfast buffet and we were on the road by 10:00am. We camped in Mill Creek RV resort near Mackinaw City and will do some shopping this afternoon and go to the Bridge Museum for dinner.
9/15/09 Today we traveled to White Fish Point and Tahquamenon Falls. It was a beautiful day and Deb and I had time to look for rocks on Lake Superior shoreline.
9/14/09 Drove to Bay Mills Casino RV Park today, parked the rigs and off to Sault Saint Marie to watch freighters go through the locks. We had dinner at Antlers, quite an experience.
9/13/09 Today we took a trip to Legendary Kitch-iti-kipi or better known as Big Spring and Fayette Historic State Park. Were we a bit disappointed that the two story outhouse at Fayette has been torn down.
9/12/09 This morning we went on the Glass Bottom Boat Shipwreck Tour and later drove to Grand Marais for a White Fish dinner.
9/11/09 Moved to Munising Tourist Park right on the shores of Lake Superior. We went on the Pictured Rocks Boat Cruise at 4pm that cruise goes to Spray Falls.
9/10/09 Moved to Marquette today and we are staying at the casino RV parking for free. We only have electric but the sites are nice. We went to the Iron Industry Museum near Ishpeming which turned out to be very interesting. A free museum rated a GEM by AAA. After the museum we had to stop at the Yooper Tourist Trap and enjoyed laughing at the antics displayed both outdoor and in. Our next stop was Jean Kay’s Pasta shop for pastas which we took to Presque Isle Park met up with Scot, a colleague of Gary’s.
9/9/09 We stopped at a casino near Baraga, we were surprised to learn they were offering full hookup in their RV parking for just 9.99 due to the date. We went for a ride to see the Sturgeon River Gorge but once there decided it was too rugged to walk to the falls. We did stop at Canyon Falls and did a short walk to the falls and a view of a beautiful canyon. The evening was spent in the casino and a trip to the hot tub.
9/8/09 Our last day in Hancock was spent traveling to the tip of Keweenaw Peninsula and on the way we stopped to see Haven Falls, Eagle River Lighthouse, the Jam Pot to purchase jam and goodies and a picnic at Fort Wilkins. Our timing was perfect as we arrive about 10 minutes before a ranger gave us a tour of the fort. He was excellent – dressed in full uniform of an officer of the time and kept in character the whole 1 ½ hours of the tour. On our way home we stopped at Jacobs Falls (all the falls today were viewed from the road, no hiking.
9/7/09 Today we toured the Quincy Mine, a copper mine that has become a part of the National Park system. We also did a long difficult hike to the 3 Hungarian Falls only to find we could have parked a lot closer and not had to walk up the steep trail!
9/6/09 Our last day at Sunday Lake was spent going to the VFW hall for a great breakfast then off to see some waterfalls, Saxon Falls, Superior Falls and Powder Horn Falls.
9/5/09 Drove to Ironwood to see the Big Indian and then onto Hurley, WI for their Italian festival – not much of a festival but the locals seemed to be having a great time. I did enjoy watching the spaghetti and watermelon contests the kids participated in.
9/4/09 Today’s trip was to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. We walked along the Presque Isle River and saw 3 waterfalls and then drove up to Lake of the Clouds for the beautiful view of the park. We had a picnic lunch and then visited two more falls, Agate and Bond falls before returning to our rig.
9/3/09 Deb, Gary, Ms. Elly, Gary and Suzanne went to the Black River and hiked to 3 waterfalls, Great Conglomerate Falls, Potawatomi Falls and Gorge Falls and then drove to the Harbor and had a picnic. We also saw the Copper Peak Ski Flying ramp and Manakiki Falls (minimal walking involved).
9/2/09 Drove from Gaylord to Wakefield, MI and the Sunday Lake Campground. On the way we stopped at the Tioga Creek Roadside Park and took a short walk to Tioga Falls. Gary and Deb pulled in about an hour after we did. It was great seeing them again.
9/1/09 Today we took a 2 mile hike with Gail and Ben on the cross country ski trail off Lone Pine Road. Gary then took the truck for an oil change and Gail and I kayaked across to the County Park.
8/31/09 Beach day today, Gail and I took a short kayak trip along the shore line while Gary rested.
8/30/09 We finished planning the UP trip and then went over to Jim and Gail’s. Suzanne brought over a crock pot stew and biscuits since Jim and Gail had worked all day, Jim helping his neighbor with his garage and Gail in the garden. Their neighbors, Bill and Terry came over after dinner to play Pegs and Jokers with us.
8/29/09 It rained all day, Gary worked on planning the trip and I went shopping. Met up with Gail and Jim for a cookout and played Pegs and Jokers.
8/28/09 Gary, Gail and I drove to Harbor Springs today for some window shopping and gazing at the expensive boats in the harbor. Jim when over to his son’s Matt to help finish up their basement before the baby is born next month. We then took a beautiful drive to Cross Village where we saw an old Mission church that is in remarkable shape and the Legs Inn.
8/27/09 Today we went blackberry picking but the berries were still just beginning, Gail used what we picked to back a delicious blackberry pie. Jim arrived home for the weekend and we enjoyed a meal together and later went to the hot tub at Beaver Creek to relax after a busy week.
8/26/09 Sue’s first big hike, we drove to Deadman’s Hill with Gail and hiked 3 mile round trip. The weather was perfect for hiking and after the steep downhill portion of the trail, it was a good hike.
8/25/09 Met up with Gail at the cottage today and rested while watching a storm front come in. Enjoyed a nice dinner with Gail.
8/24/09 Worked on cleaning the bedroom and end cap today. Gary started planning our trip to UP with Deb and Gary.
8/23/09 Off to Beaver Creek ROD park in Gaylord, MI. We should of planned to stay another day to rest up but we will have time in Gaylord for that.
8/21-8/22 Lots of square dancing to some very good callers. We paced ourselves but we were plenty tired each night.
8/20/09 The Michigan Square Dance Convention started at 7pm with a trail end dance in Troy. It rained most of the day so we went shopping at Crossroads Mall. Probably too much walking before the dance!
8/19/09 Today we hung around Waldenwoods, did laundry, rented a kayak and then tried out our tubes in the lake. It turned out to be a very relaxing day.
8/18/09 We met up with Greg, Judy, Jeff and Sue at the Detroit Science Center. Gary had arranged a VIP tour of the Star Trek exhibit, Planetarium show and IMAX show. Everyone enjoyed the day spent together.
8/17/09 Today we drove to Waldenwoods RV Resort which is near the corner of US 23 and MI 59. This is a really nice park and I really enjoyed the hot tub this first day.
8/16/09 Phil’s vacation is over, we drove him back to Chicago. We had a good time together.
8/15/09 Today we headed for Warren Dunes State Park to enjoy the 90 degree day that was expected. We enjoyed the Lake and the breeze and no one got a sunburn thanks to sun screen.
8/14/09 The other two Hitchhikers left today and we hung around using the pool, mini golf and generally enjoying the outdoors.
8/13/09 Greg and Judy had their granddaughter Devin with them, a delightful 10 year old. The 8 of us spent the day going out to dinner at Crane’s, stopping at a winery, going on a dune ride near Saugatuck and watching the sun set over Lake Michigan; it was great fun.
8/12/09 Gary and I drove out in the 5th wheel with my brother Phil. We stayed in an ROD park (Travelers Inn) about 30 miles west of Kalamazoo. We parked next to friends Greg and Judy and their friends Jeff and Sue. It was a Hitchhiker row!
8/7 and 8/8 Great Square Dancing weekend in Holland, MI.
8/5/09 Spent some time at home – lots to do!
8/4/09 Drove home from Delaware State Park, Ohio; we started out about 9:30am and arrived home about 6:30 after stopping to buy Gary blackberry jelly in Bucyrus, OH, and Cabala’s in Dundee, MI.
8/3/09 Left Greenbrier River RV Campground and drove to Delaware, OH. The State Park has asphalt pads, 50 amp service but no water or sewer. We got a PA rate of $12.50 for a one day stay (Sun – Wed).
8/2/09 Toured the bunker at Greenbrier Hotel. This was the area that during the cold war would house Congress. The tour was very interesting and we would recommend it to anyone interested in this period of our country. Russ and Donna left for home after we had lunch. Gary and I toured Lost World Cave and then visited Hern’s Mill Covered Bridge.
8/1/09 Did a fair amount of driving today but did stop at Natural Bridge and Caverns in Virginia. The Caverns were not worth the stop but the Natural Bridge area was beautiful. Russ, Donna and I waited for Gary to walk ¾ mile to view the waterfall. Russ and Donna got a motel in Lewisburg and we camped at the Greenbrier River Campground about 12 miles away.
7/31/09 Drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was rainy and foggy at the higher altitudes. We did walk to Linville Falls and stopped at several outlooks along the way. We left the parkway at Boone and made it to --- NC. I did not know that this was the town where Donna’s grandson was killed by a drunk driver, we just stopped because it was getting late. We even stopped at the Holiday Inn where the family gathered for the funeral. Donna and Russ were able to drive to the cemetery where her grandson was buried in the morning before we took to the road again. I think it was fate that led us there.
7/30/09 Our last workshop and dance as we leave tomorrow morning.
7/29/09 Workshop conducted by Randy and dance called by Randy and Jerry.
7/28/09 Workshop conducted by Jerry S. and club dance called by Randy and Jerry. Suzanne danced when Randy called as Jerry called too fast for her foot.
7/27/09 Workshop conducted by Randy D. The dance was called by Randy and Jerry.
7/26/09 I went to church in Maggie Valley, it is the most beautiful church anywhere.
7/25/09 We went for a long drive today to see the waterfalls, Franklin Falls, Drive Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Looking Glass Falls.
7/24/09 Today is a day of rest. We had breakfast with Donna and Russ and sat around talking outside, it is beautiful out.
7/23/09 Moved from Pigeon Forge to Maggie Valley today. Went out to dinner with Russ and Donna and then to the hot tub. We did manage a game of Shoot the Moon and the women won!!!
7/22/09 Drove to Cades Cove and walked around the village of Cades Cove. Then back to Pigeon Forge to the Black Bear Jamboree Dinner Show. It was excellent and the food was good also.
7/21/09 We went and played Hillbilly Golf this morning and Gary won with Russ coming in a close second. Then we took a tram ride up the mountain to the ski area. I talked Russ and Gary into going on the Alpine Slide with me. Donna rode up to the top of the mountain on a chair lift. We went to the Comedy Barn for a show at 5pm and a dinner show called Hoot and Holler at 8:30pm.
7/20/09 Meet Donna and Russ in Pigeon Forge and after they got settled in their motel we went to the Magic Beyond Belief at 3pm and the Smith Brothers dinner show right after. Both shows were excellent.
7/19/09 Laundry and shopping today
7/18/09 Scoped out Pigeon Forge and went to the Outlet Stores and several tool stores, there are 5 and Gary is having a great time visiting each!
7/17/09 We arrived at Mill Creek RV Resort, a Coast to Coast resort in Pigeon Forge. We arrived at 10am and paid a $5.00 early entry fee to get our site before 2pm.
7/16/09 We spent the day in Oak Ridge, TN at the American Museum of Science and Energy. They give a bus tour of the from noon to 3pm of the K-25, Gaseous Diffusion Plant, the Y-12, the worlds first uranium enrichment plant and X-10, graphite reaction which made the plutonium for the test bomb during World War II, all of these plants were part of the Manhattan Project and the Spallation Neutron Source which is a neutron research center.
7/13/09 Another beautiful day, I did the laundry early before it got hot so we could drive to some of the covered bridges. This is a beautiful section of Indiana, narrow, curvy roads, and hills. The bridges were interesting and will post some pictures soon.
7/12/09 Before we left Timberline we drove into Muncie, IN and went to a bakery that makes filled cupcakes (a must visit when ever we are near Muncie). We also took care of some family business and were able to get going by 11am. We drove to Indian Lakes, a TT Campground. We had only planned on staying one night but ended up adding a night so we could go see some of the many covered bridges in this part of Indiana.
7/11/09 Moved on to Timberline Campground near Anderson, IN. We had a nice visit with Michelle and Ron Kaitchuck.
7/10/09 Moved on to Circle B Park in Angola for a square dance weekend. We enjoyed the calling of Jimmy Robinson with about 25 other couples on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening.
7/9/09 Today we did the Quilt Gardens Tour, this was amazing. I will include several pictures on the web page.
7/8/09 Drove to Elkhart today so Gary could check out the RV surplus stores. We also stopped at the RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum and on the way home we stopped at Das Dutchman Essenhaus for dinner.
7/7/09 We went to the flea market today and if anything it’s even bigger than the last time we were here. Gary had me rent a riding cart – saving my ankle for dancing. We met up with Sue’s college roommate, Melody Stoddard and her mom for dinner and caught up on what’s happened to us in the last 10 years.
7/6/09 We are finally on the road again, yea! We left this morning for Grand View Bend Campground in Howe, Indiana, just a short trip to Shipshewana. After we arrived we found out it was a Coast to Coast campground so we were able to save a few dollars.
Winter Journal
4/7/09 I hope everyone who reads this had a Happy Easter. Both Gary and Sue are making good progress. Gary’s doctor felt that by June he should be able to resume normal activities. He still has about 40% gas bubble in his eye but that is a good thing as it keeps pressure on the retina allowing it to reattach firmly. He also has gotten more sight back than the doctor expected. The doctor said he could drive but to be very careful as he has lost a “boat load” of peripheral vision. So we have ventured out a couple of times, venturing a couple of blocks from home. Sue can now put all her weight on her leg and can walk without crutches in her air boot. She still uses crutches when going outside to prevent a fall. She goes back to the doctor in a couple of weeks and hopefully can quit wearing the air boot. We are using our time to get some boring projects done at home. Sue is putting all our old phonograph records that we want to keep on the computer to later be saved on CD or possibly MP3 format. We have managed to clean out files and have done a lot of reorganizing of files; all work that might have been put off for years if not for this.
We are planning a trip to start in July at a square dance camping weekend in Indiana and ending with a square dance week long workshop in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. We need to be home for a square dance in Holland, MI on the 2nd weekend of August.
3/26/09 Sue saw the doctor yesterday and found out the fracture was due to ligaments tearing off the tibia. He felt it should heal fine with time. She is now in a air boot that will allow her to put some weight on it, more as it become comfortable.
3/17/09 Gary is making good progress. So far all looks good. I fell today and broke my right leg (tibia). Our lucky hasn’t been the best for the last 3 weeks! I have a splint and hopefully will be casted next week Wednesday when I see an orthopedic specialist.
3/3/09 The doctor was able to reattach the retina, now he must keep his head down 24/7. Glad we are home.
3/2/09 Gary saw his retinal specialist and is scheduled for surgery tomorrow at 11:30 am.
3/1/09 Woke up to snow on the ground and we got started by 7am, had to get the snow off the slides before we could begin. Made it home by 6pm, roads were good, no icy.
2/28/09 Drove as far as Cave City, TN today. It rained much of the day but there wasn’t much traffic thank goodness. We found a campground with a pull through so we are not going to unhitch although Gary is draining the water out of the fresh water tank and it is suppose to be cold tonight.
2/27/08 Today we went to an Urgent Care center for Gary’s left eye. They referred us to an optomologist and he referred us to a retinal specialist. Gary has a detached retina and we are leaving in the morning for home and hopefully surgery on Monday or Tuesday.
2/26/08 I ended up in ER early this morning, with throat swelling. The ER doctor seemed to think it was my blood pressure medicine so he cautioned me to stop and not take any more. He wants me to see my family physician but of course that is not realistic, will wait until we get back in May as long as my blood pressure doesn’t go too high.
2/25/09 Lent begins today, I drove into Richardson for mass and Gary did some more shopping.
2/24/09 Happy Marti Gras. We avoided parades today and instead went shopping at the Outlet Mall near us and went to the movies in the afternoon.
2/23/09 Gary drove Greg, Judy and I over to Mobile to tour the Mobile Museum and the Navy ship moored in Mobile Bay. The museum was closed so we watched the Flower Parade and then toured the Frigate USS Hawes.
2/22/09 Greg drove Judy, Gary and I to their daughter’s home in Mobile so we could go together to the afternoon parade. We enjoyed meeting Jody and Bruce and had a great afternoon watching parades, eating junk food and watching people. You really get caught up in these parades and I was amazed on all the stuffed animals, toys and beads that were thrown.
2/21/09 We drove over to Judy and Greg’s in Golf Breese RV resort. We went to the Foley parade and it was small but fun. Then went out to Judy’s favorite restaurant (mine also now) and went for a walk along the beach to help digest all the lunch we had. It was nice catching up with them and we made plans to meet tomorrow for a day of parades in Mobile with their daughter and son-in-law.
2/20/09 Gary and I drove to Pensacola today and visited the National Aviation Museum. This was well worth the drive, lots of history, planes, IMAX shows and a great lunch. We were disappointed to learn that the blue angles are presently in California training new pilots, they practice at the navel base starting in March but of course we will be long gone.
2/19/09 We visited two state parks today, Historic Blakeley State Park where the last major battle of the Civil War was fought. Also drove to Meaher State Park which has a new campground will all sites having full hookups. Meaher wasn’t much of a park to visit but camping would be nice here. We heard from Greg today and plan on meeting up with them on Saturday to attend a Mardi Gras parade.
2/18/09 More chores today, haircuts, oil change and groceries.
2/17/09 Gary worked on the truck today and I got my counted cross stitch out for the first time in years. Tonight I went over and played progressive rummy and won – beginners luck.
2/16/09 Today is a travel day, left Live Oaks and drove to Styx River (ROD) resort in Alabama.
2/15/09 We drove 2 hours over to Orange Blossom Squares for a dance with Tony Oxedine as caller and met up with Linda and Rich. It was a great dance.
2/14/09 It rained all day today so Gary worked on taxes and I read a book and went to church.
2/13/09 We moved to Suwannee Music Camp for the weekend.
2/12/09 Laundry day and getting ready to move day; I hated putting up the bikes but tomorrow we can get an earlier start if we do it today.
2/11/09 It is a beautiful day here in Orlando, we participated in the shuffleboard tournament and water aerobics today. I can’t believe how fast the day went by.
2/10/09 Drove over to Coco Beach and took a gambling cruise on the Atlantic today. We won the trip at the RV rally and it was a beautiful day for a cruise. The slots were against us so we quite early and enjoyed the cruise and watching other people lose money.
2/09/09 Linda and Rich drove down and we showed them our park, visited and played some shuffleboard with them. We all went to Wonder Works in Orlando for a dinner show that was part magic and lots of humor. Linda and Rich each agreed it was worth the money.
2/08/09 Today we drove to the Kennedy Space Center and spent the whole day enjoying learning more about space flight. We saw lots of birds as the grounds are a wildlife sanctuary.
2/07/09 Rode our bikes around the park as this is the first warm day we’ve had in quite some time. The park was allowing a garage sale and we found the vent cover we needed to replace the broken one over the bathroom for $5. A new one would have cost $17.
2/06/09 Played in the shuffleboard tournament today, Gary won (can you image that?) His reward was an ice cream.
2/05/09 It’s cold today so we went to the Prime outlet mall. I was able to find New Balance shoes at the clearance shop and could by 2 pair for less than one at home.
2/04/09 We were tired today and it was cold so we hung around the park.
2/03/09 We started out the day with a free breakfast complements of Denny’s and then traveled to Umatella to visit with Rich and Linda. There campground had a square dance scheduled so we all went and had a very good time. Their caller was very good and work shopped some plus calls for the new plus dancers. Played cards after the afternoon dance and it turned cold by the time we left – 45 and windy.
2/02/09 The drivers worked for Alltel but not for the printer, we went back to the club house to again use WiFi to do it again. It ended up taking 3 times but the printer is now working. Outlook still does not work but I can go on the internet and get my email. Unfortunately we lost my whole outlook directory with the virus so I don’t have anyone’s email address or address.
2/01/09 I went to a beautiful church in Clermont to go to. It is about 13 miles away. I went to the club house to work on the computer trying to upload the printer drivers, ALLTEL drivers and Outlook. Jim helped me via phone, it was taking an incredible long time to do.
1/31/09 We went to a couple of flea markets today, it is amazing how many are in Orlando. One of the flea markets had 900 booths so we got a good walk in.
1/30/09 Drove to Orlando Thousand Trails Park today, went to the post office and got our computer back from Jim!
1/29/09 Back to St. Augustine, did not find wallet. We did go to Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.
1/28/09 Today we drove to St. Augustine and stopped at Fort Matanzas National Monument on the way as well as drove on the beach at Daytona Beach. We got to St. Augustine and took the trolley ride, visited the old jail and did some shopping. I think I left a wallet on the IHOP which contained our membership cards and a couple of gift cards or I put it on the back seat of the truck and it fell out at one of our stops, at any rate IHOP said they didn’t find it so we will travel back to St. Augustine to see the manager and file a police report.
1/27/08 We went shopping and to the movies to see Nixon Frost interviews.
1/26/09 Monday is shuffle board tournament so we joined in. This group charges 50 cents each, you draw cards for partners and opponent and the winners get $1 for winning. I lost but Gary and his partner won so he won a $1, played for free!
1/25/09 We left Winter Haven for Sun Resort, an AOR park in Apopka. This is a very large park with very low live oaks. We felt they could have done more trimming of the trees.
1/24/09 Spent the last two days square dancing to Tony Oxendine, Bill Harrison, Jerry Story, Dee Dee Dougherty and Jerry Haag. Friday day sessions were a little disappointing as they were billed as workshops but were not. Saturday however did have workshops both in the morning and afternoon. We spent the day in the DBD Plus room.
1/22/09 We left Peace River a day early so we could go to Lake Shore Palms Travel Park in Winter Haven so we could go to the Florida Square Dance Festival in Lakeland. We thought it would only be a 20 minute drive to Lakeland but it took us 40 minutes. We should have stayed at Tiki Village RV Campground, a Good Sams’ Park); it would have only been a few minutes away.
1/17/09 Today I did laundry and we went to Arcadia to the Palace Promenaders Square Dance. There we saw Gene and his female friend. Gene has moved to Florida and only went back to Michigan to hunt this past fall.
1/16/09 Drove back to Tampa and went to the Red Barn Flea Market and then over to Mixon Fruit Farm for a tour of an orchard. On the drive to Tampa we saw 10 sandhill cranes along FL 64, got a great picture of two of them doing a dance.
1/15/09 Today we drove to Tampa for the Florida RV Super show. We met Joyce and Ken Smith there while waiting in line to see a two story RV.
1/14/09 Wednesday is wash the rig or truck or both at Peace River. We washed the RV, played some mini golf, shuffle board and went over to the rec room for pegs and jokers that evening.
1/13/09 Tuesday is shuffle board tournament at Peace River so we joined in and met several new friends. Sue and Dan invited us to join them at Wendy’s for lunch so we did. Tuesday we danced to Sam Dunn at Fort Meade and it was a very good dance. We met two couples from Ontario who were great dancers.
1/11/09 Crystal Lake had a square dance this evening and since it was only about 6 miles away we went. The club was average, several new dancers or dancers who don’t dance very often, they were a friendly bunch and we had a good time.
1/10/09 Today we went to a Seminole War reenactment at Paynes Creek State Park. It was interesting even though we missed many of the demonstrations. We also went for a walk to see a swinging bridge over Paynes Creek so we got our exercise in. The campground had live entertainment tonight, Bobby and Charlotte, singers who did a nice variety show and karaoke.
1/09/09 Left Live Oaks for Peach River Thousand Trails Park. We didn’t get here until 2pm and were lucky enough to get an full hookup site by 3pm. It’s a great site with some shade but Gary can get DISH TV.
1/08/09 Had a nice visit with John and Velma Ettlin, full-timers who have been enjoying life on the road for a few years now. Went for a nice walk to see the bee hive and tree house and turned in early so we could get an early start in the morning.
1/07/09 Today I cleaned the inside of the 5th wheel and Gary continued on his fixit list. We managed to get a long walk in and watched the bats leave the large bat house on the property. This house has approximately 8000 bats and getting more all the time, apparently it can hold 75,000. It was similar to watching the bats leave Carlsbad Caverns.
1/06/09 It has been cloudy and humid all day. Gary has been busy with his fixit list which includes de-winterizing. Wouldn’t you know it would not go smoothly; he could not get water through the kitchen faucet. Gary worked for several hours and finally got it to work. Went and had supper at the resort, they had a live band playing.
1/05/09 We had the compressor checked out and the pump is working, there seems to be a problem with the on board air line, if turned on it burns out the fuse. The good news is that the truck’s air bags are working so we can safely unhitch and hitch the 5th wheel. We left Atlanta at about noon and made it to Live Oaks, FL and the Suwannee Music Park.
1/04/09 Lots of rain today and a little fog. We had a low tire pressure signal on one of the 5th wheel tires and stopped along the freeway to check it out. The tire was indeed low so Gary attempted to use the on board air compressor to fill it. The compressor filled it to 80psi but then stopped. We limped into a Pilot station, filled the tire and took off again only for the sensor alarm again. This time we stopped at a Flying J and on checking, the tire was fine. Don’t know why the sensor is now alarming but that can wait until we get to Florida. We do need to get the compressor fixed to be able to unhitch the 5th wheel so we are in Atlanta waiting for a shop to open up to see if they can fix the compressor or put in a new one.
!/03/09 We made it out of Michigan and other than a little rain the driving was good. We spent the evening in Richmond, KY at a LaQuinta Motel off exit 90A.
